Regulations and more regulations. One of the most highly regulated food industries in the United States, dairy must comply with regulations issued by multiple federal agencies including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Department of Commerce, among other state and local regulatory bodies.
Despite political calls to roll back the size of government and cut down on federal regulations, it seems as though new or modified regulations are being proposed or implemented every day. While the intent of these new rules may be to make food safer, people healthier or the environment cleaner, new regulations also add to the already burdensome regulatory environment for the industry.
Since most dairy industry professionals only come face-to-face with regulators when an inspector knocks on their door, the Regulatory RoundUP provides the opportunity for dairy professionals to hear first-hand from the decision-makers and the regulation officials who have direct responsibility for the rules that affect dairy plants, products and personnel. The conference will help dairy professionals better understand the intent behind federal regulations, the parameters for compliance and how best to engage in the process to shape pending regulations.
Who Should Attend?
IDFA’s Regulatory RoundUP is geared toward dairy company and plant professionals who are responsible for understanding and complying with dairy regulations and the suppliers who work with dairy plants to meet and exceed federal, state and local standards for dairy food manufacturing.
IDFA members registered for the Regulatory RoundUP are welcome to participate in all Washington Conference meetings and briefings. Together, IDFA's Regulatory RoundUP and Washington Conference will offer three days of comprehensive policy and regulatory discussions with key federal officials and legislators.
